Business leadership and burnout.
I have spent many years working with the physical needs of people, specialising in working with the bigger picture of people’s lives to establish science-led strategies to energise them, particularly in the workplace.
Today, I wanted to take a little time to talk about my work with business leaders.
Burnout in business is sadly nothing new, for leaders and for employees. As a leader, do you ever wonder how you could support your diverse team with their physical and mental health?
At Applied Movement, I specialise in the area of biologically-driven communication, leadership and relational tendencies. I’m passionate about creating change for leaders, organisations and employees. Over the years I have witnessed first-hand how a healthy culture for a business, with healthy communications, starts with a healthy leader.
I often work with both large and small organisations, that are leading the way in integrating full-scale ‘precision corporate wellness’ into their culture and daily operations. By working with these companies, I have identified the reoccurring themes and activities that enable leaders, employees and the organisation the thrive.
What makes a healthy thriving organisation?
Recognising and embracing difference
Navigating high-pressure industry demands
Educating on health leadership and leadership health
Honouring the variety of different thinking styles
Establishing operating rhythms and energy levels
Creating leaders that lead efficiently and effectively.
When an individual, be that a leader or employee, understands their biological needs and how those tendencies play out in their operating rhythms, energy levels and neurological responses to stress, lack of sleep, and other health factors, they start to make positive, suitable and beneficial choices. This in turn leads to a positive change in how they think, interact and work as a part of an organisation.
When you are leading a team, and you have access to the inside information on each team member and their unique ‘operating system’- how they think, respond and thrive, based on their social needs, energy levels etc you are able to build a workplace that truly supports them and allows them to thrive.
Building a thriving organisation
Everyone is diverse, and it is by understanding neurodiversity that leaders can discover how their team will naturally process information. When a leader understands the most important and effective way to input information, the outputs are optimal performance, team coherence and flow. When team members see their own development, strengths, natural gifts, talents and rhythms they begin to thrive - as self-awareness is knowledge, and knowledge is power.
